- Symptoms: Pain under the big toe, swelling, bruising, and difficulty bending or straightening the toe.
- Causes: Repetitive pressure or trauma to the forefoot from high-impact activities or sports.
- Risk Factors: Dancers, runners, basketball players, individuals with high arches, or those who wear high heels frequently.
- Diagnosis: Physical examination of the foot combined with X-rays or advanced imaging to rule out fractures.
- Treatment: RICE protocol (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation), anti-inflammatory medications, custom orthotics, padding, and supportive footwear.
