Interesting Facts
Dr. Heimur has served as a team physician for athletes at every level, including professional baseball through the Miami Marlins organization, NCAA Division I and II collegiate programs, and high school athletics.
Before medical school, Dr. Heimur spent two years conducting musculoskeletal clinical research at the National Institutes of Health. She completed her fellowship training at the prestigious Andrews Institute under the mentorship of renowned sports medicine surgeon Dr. James Andrews.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Heimur enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and Labrador retriever.
Biography
Dr. Juliana Heimur is a fellowship-trained, board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. She is passionate about helping athletes of all levels—from competitive athletes to weekend warriors—as well as active individuals return safely to the activities they enjoy. Her clinical interests include joint preservation, cartilage restoration, joint replacement, and fracture care.
Dr. Heimur earned her bachelor's degree in psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from The George Washington University before conducting musculoskeletal clinical research at the National Institutes of Health. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her orthopaedic surgery residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and went on to complete an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the Andrews Institute through the Andrews Research & Education Foundation.
Throughout her training, Dr. Heimur worked alongside leading orthopaedic specialists, including former team physicians for the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Eagles. She has also served as a team physician for professional baseball, NCAA Division I and II athletics, and high school sports, reflecting her dedication to caring for athletes at every level.
