Dr. Kazanjian remains actively involved in implant development, research, and leadership within orthopaedic societies. He has served as President of the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society and co-chaired major regional Shoulder & Elbow and Orthopaedic Trauma Symposia.
Education & Training
Dr. Kazanjian earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM), where he also completed his internship and orthopaedic surgery residency. During his training, he was recognized as both Intern of the Year and Orthopaedic Resident of the Year. He completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Traumatology/Adult Reconstruction at the renowned Hughston Clinic in Columbus, Georgia, followed by advanced subspecialty training in shoulder and elbow surgery. He frequently lectures regionally, nationally, and internationally on complex shoulder and elbow conditions.
Board Certification
Dr. Kazanjian is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience specializing in complex shoulder and elbow disorders, including open reconstruction, joint replacement, arthroscopy, trauma, and revision surgery. Since 2004, he has maintained a clinical academic practice serving patients throughout Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs.
Professional Memberships
Dr. Kazanjian is an active member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES), an organization composed of nationally and internationally recognized leaders in shoulder and elbow surgery. He is also an elected member of the Association of Clinical Elbow and Shoulder Surgeons (ACESS). In addition, he co-founded the Mid-Atlantic Shoulder and Elbow Society and established the Shoulder and Elbow Section of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics.
Awards & Distinctions
Dr. Kazanjian serves as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Since 2007, he has mentored medical students, interns, residents, and fellows, earning the Attending of the Year Award from PCOM Orthopaedic Residents in 2016. He remains committed to advancing shoulder and elbow surgery through education, research, and innovation.
Interesting Facts
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Kazanjian has served as a team physician for professional sports organizations, including Team USA Rugby League. A former Academic All-American and four-year starting baseball player at Bucknell University, he brings firsthand athletic experience to the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries.
