I was referred to Dr. Monaco due to a work related injury, the severity of which made immediate relief desirable. I’ve always been physically active as a musician, caregiver and golfer, so the full use of my limbs is critical. I expressed my concerns when I met Dr. Monaco for the first time. He was confident that I’d be able to resume my passions post-surgery after physiotherapy. The results of the surgery were beyond my expectations. My Achilles tendon had been severed. Fourteen weeks later, I’m mobile and and through approximately twelve weeks of physiotherapy, I’m well on my way to a safe and comfortable recovery. I’d never known Dr. Monaco before the initial consultation, but it was a fortuitous meeting. I’d recommend him to anyone in need of critical foot surgery. Dr. Monaco did my ankle replacement earlier this year. Pain from a stress fracture caused me to get an x-ray which revealed my ankle was in very bad shape. Dr. Monaco went over my options and we decided together what was best for me. The procedure was successful with very little pain. The only downside was I could not put any weight on my foot for 3 weeks. That is a minor inconvenience for now having better mobility. During a visit to care for my daughter's injury from an accident, I showed Dr. Monaco my left ankle, also bruised from the accident. I had broken my ankle and both leg bones in high school and had reached a point where it had become quite painful from osteoarthritis and bone on bone contact. Although not his patient, Dr. Monaco took an immediate interest as the excellent doctor he is, and sent me for an x-ray. He introduced me to the possibility of ankle replacement surgery. It took me a year to decide to do it and I am delighted I did. My pain relief has been tremendous. Dr. Monaco is a great doctor. He is my second podiatrist for my plantar fasciitis. I suffered from plantar fasciitis for about half a year. The first doctor only offered me the option of cortisone, so I went to see Dr. Monaco. He is apparently a much better doctor. He is willing to discuss different treatment options with me. Finally I decided to try dry needling. Just one treatment for few minutes, within one week, the pain is gone and my foot is almost normal. Now I can enjoy walking and hiking. I am 61 years old and had pain in both of my feet for over two years. In the course of those two years I saw two podiatrists and two orthopedic surgeons. All four of those doctors basically told me to deal with my pain and to get orthotics because they saw no problems with my MRI, and diagnosed me with Fat Pad Atrophy. I tried multiple orthotics and still had pain, and I was very frustrated. A friend recommended Dr. Monaco, and Dr. Monaco discovered that I had small tears in my plantar plate (in both feet) that hadn't shown up on the MRI. Dr. Monaco first performed surgery on my left foot, and three months later I had surgery on my right foot. After suffering a painful trimalleolar right ankle fracture - with severe dislocation - Dr Monaco performed ORIF surgery within two days of my sledding accident during the busy Christmas season. Am 70 years old and was leery of getting foot surgery at my age. Chronic problem with my foot since I damaged it playing football 40 years ago. My doctor (a close friend) actually insisted I visit with Dr. Monaco. Great advice! 1. Dr Monaco diagnosed then clearly and comprehensively explained condition, then provided 3 options along with a detailed explanation of the likely outcomes of each. I chose surgery. 2. Premier Surgery Center was excellent! Totally competent surgical team, and no danger of hospital infections. 3. I cannot stress the following point enough: Dr Monaco's level of surgical skill is so high that he is able to ABSOLUTELY minimize the disturbance of the muscle, ligament and tissue around the bones that he needed to fuse. The importance of that fact is that it MINIMIZES both pain and recovery time. I did not need to take even an aspirin for pain! 4. Recovery time was significantly less than Dr. Monaco predicted. I had a total ankle joint replacement by Dr. Monaco. To be honest, it was at first very painful, as you can imagine! I broke my fibula, wore a cast for 6 weeks and a boot for 2. Afterwards I was able to walk on it but because of the continued swelling the doctor ordered an mri that showed my bone was not even connected. He referred me to Dr. Monico for surgery. Surgery was the last thing I wanted to do since my husband had recently experienced major complications from a surgery. Dr. Monico was so patient with me. Dr. Monaco and his team were fabulous. I ruptured my Achilles and 4 days later had surgery completed. That included my initial consultation, testing and surgery. He is a young professional that keeps himself and other doctors he consults with, current on the latest procedures and protocols. His post surgery advise and follow up has been right on the mark. I met Dr Monaco in the emergency room. I had a terrible broken ankle. I was kept overnight and had surgery the next day. I was very scared I would never walk right again.
